“Nepal Should Lead Green Energy Investments”: IHA Vice-Chair Pokharel
Kathmandu; Sushil Pokharel, Vice-Chair of the International Hydropower Association (IHA), has expressed the commitment to transform Nepal into a prime destination for international investments in green energy, including hydropower. He conveyed this message during a felicitation program hosted by the Independent Power Producers Association, Nepal (IPPAN), the umbrella organization of Nepal’s energy sector. Pokharel also expressed commitment to collaborate with IPPAN.
IPPAN organized a program to congratulate Pokharel, who also serves as an advisor in the association. During the program, Ganesh Karki, President of IPPAN, presented a certificate of appreciation and highlighted Pokharel’s commitment to taking initiatives on the international stage to attract foreign investors to Nepal’s hydropower sector.
“While Pokharel represents Nepal in IHA, we anticipate him playing a significant role in introducing IPPAN on the international forum,” he stated. Similarly, Pokharel emphasized that it is the right time to invest in Nepal’s hydropower projects and other renewable energy sources. He further urged different stakeholders to collaborate and work together so Nepal can bring green energy investments.
Operating in more than 120 countries, IHA’s members include the world’s leading hydropower developers, operators and manufacturers. At present there are only three companies from Nepal are members of IHA, namely Bizbell, Urja Developer, and Hydro Consult. Pokharel will be representing 28 countries of Central Asia and South Asia.
